Master’s Message
Brethren,
It is difficult to believe that 2008 is behind us. 2008 will be etched in my memory with the addition of two new grandchildren within three days. I hope that each one of you had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. I now look forward to the coming months with a great deal of anticipation, because we have much to do. We will be initiating two new members before the end of spring. We will have to ballot, plan roles, learn or re-learn parts and rehearse for these important degrees. The dates of each are noted on the Trestle Board. We will commence with the First Degree in January, the Second Degree in March, and the Third Degree in April. It is also noteworthy that we will have a different Master sitting in the East for each Degree.
The Oxford Masonic Lodge has received some good publicity lately from different quarters. We purchased a bicycle for the Norwich Police patrol that resulted in a picture of the Master presenting a check to the Chief of Police and small write up in the Norwich newspaper during the late summer. Then in late fall there was a detailed article about our Lodge with a picture of the Master with David Allen. We made a donation to help David attend a Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. The same article also discussed our contribution of Photo Book Albums of the Oxford Bicentennial to the village of Oxford, the Oxford Memorial Library and the Oxford Historical Society. Jeanie Petersen wrote the article and took the pictures that were then submitted to the Norwich Evening Sun and the local Oxford Review. Our thanks go out to Jeanie Petersen and to Bill Jackson for suggesting her. A big thank you also goes out to Rich Howard for suggesting the Photo Book Albums and doing all of the legwork (literally and figuratively) to get all of the pictures and see the project through to completion.
I am looking forward to a great remainder of my term.
Fraternally,
Lou DeMott
